Greenwich Police were on patrol in the area of Delavan Avenue and Frontage Road in Byram when they allegedly observed a motorist traveling east on Delavan Avenue on Saturday, May 18 around 8:30 p.m. Police say they initiated a traffic stop on W Ritch Avenue after confirming that the vehicle did not have a front license plate.
Further investigation revealed that the driver was the subject of an arrest warrant in Colorado, police say.
While waiting for warrant confirmation from Colorado, police say they conducted a search of the vehicle with the help of a police canine and officer.
The canine search resulted in the discovery of 21 tabs of acid disguised as Sweet Tarts candy as well as 22 MDMA pills shaped like ghosts, both of which were located in the vicinity of the passenger seat, according to police.
The vehicle’s passenger, identified as Scott Kaiser, 48, of Meriden, Connecticut, allegedly admitted to police that the substances were “acid” and “molly” and that they belonged to him.
Kaiser was arrested and transported to Greenwich Police Department headquarters. He was charged with illegal manufacture, distribution, sale or prescription of drugs and nonstandard drugs near a school, housing center or daycare.
Kaiser was released after posting $300 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, June 3.
